No. The van takes guests up the mountain; the bike ride is downhill.

The daytime tour lasts about four hours, starts at 7:30 AM, and rides from the 6,500-foot elevation area of Haleakalā toward Paia.

The tour includes a downhill cruiser bike, helmet, granola bars, bottled water, a safety briefing, and guided van transportation.

Riders must be at least 15, at least 4’10”, weigh no more than 280 pounds, wear closed-toe shoes, and be confident, competent bike riders. Riders under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

We recommend that all riders have previous riding experience. If it is your first Maui bike tour, our guided Haleakala sunrise bike tour is our most popular option. Expert guides keep the ride smooth and safe and share riding tips along the way.

About 7 hours. It includes van transportation to the summit, time to watch the sunrise, and the bike ride down the volcano with scenic stops.

Safety is our top priority. Guided tours include professional guides, well-maintained bikes, helmets and a safety briefing. Self-guided riders receive the safety gear and instructions they need.

Wear layers, because the summit can be cold in the early morning. A windproof jacket, gloves and closed-toe shoes are recommended.

The sunrise tour includes watching the sunrise from the summit. The pre-dawn tour starts later, so you sleep in and ride down with fewer crowds, without the summit sunrise.
